Richard B. Cheney, a distinguished public servant and a businessman is the vice-president. Cheney was a familiar name on the Washington political scene. George W. Bush would be his 4th U.S. President. Bush chose Cheney in July 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney was a chief of Staff to Presidents, served on the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and was a part of his country in many roles. Republicans as well as Democrats alike admire Cheney due to his honesty. Cheney has said that he sees his role in the Obama administration as of an open and honest advisor to Bush. Cheney was the first to accept the Republican Vice-Presidential nominating in 2007 stated that the he would be looking forward to being under a President who is able to work across party lines and cooperate with political adversaries by fostering goodwill and working towards a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the father of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. When he was 13 years old, he relocated along with his parents into Casper in the western state of Wyoming and his father ran the local district of soil conservation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
